Our kitchen has professional-standard appliances including a fantastic induction Rangemaster and two additional electric ovens, and all the gadgets you’d expect in a fully-equipped contemporary kitchen, including Italian-style coffee maker and plenty of American-style fridge space for chilling bottles. We operate an honesty bar at The Old Millhouse, with whisky, brandy and a selection of other spirits, including delicious, award-winning local gins: NB Gin and Edinburgh Gin, whisky from local distillery Glenkinchie, along with wines and beers available for you to enjoy.
If you’re a foodie, why not have fun cooking some Scottish seafood or game and of course, we are happy to take advance delivery of your online Waitrose or Tesco shop so everything can be here when you arrive. The fridge is always stocked for your visit – not just with the staples such as bread, butter, milk and soft drinks, plenty of ice and fresh fruit, we also supply treats from the deli such as cold meats and cheeses. This means there’s always the makings of a snack or light meal if you arrive late. And not forgetting the freshest of fresh eggs from our own wandering hens!
We can provide all the information you need on nearby shops and food specialists in Edinburgh, as well as providing a map of the area and recommendations for restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars if you want to eat out as well as in.
A ‘butler’ service can be provided – just give us your shopping list and we’ll get your supplies in for you during your stay. If, however, you’d like a real weekend off and some special cossetting, then take advantage of a formal dinner cooked by our award-winning preferred caterer Hickory. We will work with you to create the perfect menu using seasonal ingredients from Scotland’s rich larder. Alternatively Hickory can provide you with a private chef or a menu for scrumptious meals that can be dropped off. If you want us to produce something special for you, we’ll be happy to do so.
