The Old Millhouse – making a BIG HIT!

Hi folks, it’s me, the Old Millhouse again, with news of my boss, Sally, and how she got on at the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland lunch at the Sheraton in Edinburgh yesterday.  It was a big charity event and beforehand Sally and I put our heads together to see what we could offer as a raffle prize.

HIT Lunch 3For the uninitiated, HIT Scotland was established in 1994 and since then has gone from strength to strength, HIT Lunch 2supporting literally tens of thousands of people working and studying in the hospitality industry in Scotland and helping them to broaden their skills and experience by taking advantage of a tailored learning experience offered through the HIT scholarship programme.

These scholarship awards are made possible by extensive support from all sectors of the industry who primarily donate funding through attendance at events or through individual donations and corporate sponsorship.  It was against this background that Sally and I decided that we’d offer two nights for ten people with chef’s sharing board added in to make it even more special.

Anyway, I’m glad we did come up with a good prize, because we were first up in the Grand Raffle.  Dougie the compere from Radio Forth DJ days, did a fine job of promoting the prize, so a fine number was achieved. The lucky bidder was The Royal Scotsman, one of Belmond Group Trains, operators of The Royal Scotsman and organisers of luxury train journeys across the world. We very much look forward to welcoming Fredrik Lassen and his team to The Old Millhouse and will certainly go full steam ahead to welcome them all.
