Spring and summer have kept us busy. It’s always a joy welcoming new and returning guests to the Old Millhouse, and creating a stay that’s everything (and more) they dreamed it would be.

New for 2023 is our Concierge Service which has played a vital role elevating our guests’ experience. Sally (our owner), is dedicated to delivering the service personally. She’s taken on the role of ‘personal wizard’, a genie on speed dial, ensuring every guest’s stay is extraordinary and their needs are met seamlessly.
What’s more, the service is complimentary, yes, you read that right. Sally’s enviable little black book of contacts gives her direct access to her most trusted hospitality partners and suppliers.
The benefits of the Concierge Service for our guests are:
- Arranging airport transfers in our preferred partners luxury vehicles
- Food shopping, sourcing the finest fresh and local organic produce. Managing dietaries and preferences
- Confirming the services of Jesse our private chef, including menu guidance and recommendations
- Pre-ordering wine from one of Scotland’s premier wine merchants
- Recommendations for places to eat and drink for lunch and dinner
- Personal itinerary planning
- Organising golf trips and whisky tastings.

Golf at The Old Millhouse – We’re 25 minutes from 25 courses
We’ve seen lots of golf action so far this year, including The Genesis Scottish Open in July. One of the questions we get asked alot by our guests is ‘Can we play a game of golf nearby?’ and the answer is a resounding yes!
Our location in Dalkeith gives us superb access to the best links courses in East Lothian. In just 25 minutes guests can arrive at Muirfield, Archerfield Links, The Renaissance Club and Royal Musselburgh Club to name just a few. It’s a paradise for golfers.
East Lothian itself is a stunning coastline brimming with pretty harbour towns and miles of golden sands. After a game of golf it’s worth exploring the area, savour a plate of fresh lobster harbour side before heading to Glenkinchie Distillery for a tour and whisky tasting. Sound’s good?

With so much goodness to ‘shout about’ we redesigned our website to reflect our story and to explore why a stay at The Old Millhouse is so special.
You’ll find lots of new content about the house, our interiors and style, the quality and craftsmanship of furnishings, our beautiful serene gardens and spa, dining in and out, and our recommendations of favourite places to visit.
The vision for the new website was to create a ‘gateway of endless possibilities’ for online visitors. A website that’s easy to use, full of compelling content that inspires guests to stay at The Old Millhouse.
